MARK MIDDLETON
Mark Middleton is a self-taught artist born and raised in South Africa, renowned for his realistic portrayals that reflect his profound appreciation for nature. His artistic endeavors span a variety of subjects, including African wildlife, portraits, and landscapes, distinguished by an exceptional level of detail that sets his work apart.
From a young age, Mark nurtured a fascination with the diverse fauna and flora of Africa, meticulously documenting his observations through drawings and sketches. This passion inspired him to pursue higher education in Nature Conservation, which opened doors to extensive experiences in the African bush. These experiences have significantly enriched his distinctive style, evident in each of his artworks. Mark has showcased his talent in numerous exhibitions throughout South Africa and has successfully presented his works in both South Africa and the United States. His commitment to social causes is reflected in his donations of artwork to support orphaned children in Africa and to promote the conservation of threatened and endangered species. Additionally, he has contributed illustrations for several publications, including the “African Safari Journal,” “Ethnic Tribes of Africa,” “Fauna and Flora,” and the “Fly-Fishing Journal.”
Mark achieved notable recognition by being selected as one of the top 20 artists out of 1,536 participants in the International Art Competition, ArtPrize, held in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He collaborates closely with established interior designers to create striking statement pieces for homes and lodges. Mark thrives on the challenge of transforming a client’s vision into a tangible work of art, demonstrating his passion for commissioned pieces.
